A.B. Zeidan* and F.S. Elimam*

Abstract

Morphometrically, Hemicycliophora asalaya sp.n. is characterized by moderate body lengths (0.817-0.958 mm) with 272-302 body annuli, medium stylet length (70-76 µm), vulva position 80-84 %, long tails (79-145 µm), vulva-anus distance with 15-21 annuli, excretory pore opens at 129-145 m compared to 143-163 µm oesophagous length, both from anterior body end.
Morphologically, the new species shows two lines in the lateral with breaks or anastomoses. The outer cuticle is characterized by discontinuation and disappearance of body annuli from several areas throughout the entire bodies, without ornamentations or longitudenal lines and shows different type of folding in some females; seen on the anterior or posterior body ends forming on the latter either short or long sleeves. The inner cuticle is devoid of transverse striations and shows distinct longitudinal lines throughout the entire bodies of both females and juveniles. Annulation on the juveniles observed only on the anterior body end and disappears from the rest of the bodies and the lateral field with two distinct lines clearly seen on the posterior part of their bodies.
