           Abstract

Population density of Schizonycha sp. was assessed along two different fields and in the top and bottom 200 m of the field. No difference in the density of the grubs at locations 200, 400, 600, 800 and 1000 m from the top of the unit. Density recorded from the far top of the field was not significantly different from that recorded from the bottom end, but they were significantly lower than any of these recorded from other parts of the field. . Grub density at 10, 30, 100 and 200 meters from the top was similar, whereas density assessed in points closer to the field canal was lower compared to any of these locations. A gradient of white grub’s densities in the bottom 200 m part of the field was observed to be ascending upwards.
