Sorghum response to phosphate rock as affected by placement, application rate and soil type

 Gadelkarim M. Madibbo

Abstract:

Sorghum bicolor, L. var. Abu Sabeen was grown in potted soils in a greenhouse. Different rates of Morocco Phosphate Rock (PR) per pot were mixed with 33%, 50% or 100% of the soil volume. Mixing PR with the whole soil resulted in the highest yield and P concentration by the crop on Redding soil (pH 5.9). The crop on San Timeteo soil (pH 8.4) was not responsive to PR application or method of placement.
