Abstract:

The species of white grubs, Schizonycha sp., Schizonycha sp. nar. angulata, Heteronychus licas and Anomala plebeja were recorded from the agroecosystem of sugarcane at Kenana. The former three species were solely recorded from the root zone of sugarcane. They were differentiated by the raster arrangements. The three species were recorded from all sectors with exception that Schizonycha sp. nar. angulata was not found in the Northern and the North Western sectors. The three species exist at anon significantly different soil depths at an average of 16.0 ± 0.4 cm. They inhabit a similar soil temperature at the range of 19 - 21șC. Percent of soil moisture surrounding the larvae of the three species was not significantly different; the overall mean was 37.0±0.4%.
