Research Program:
This
program has objectives of maximum utilization of agricultural products,
determination of their characteristics and identification of possibilities
of their use in food processing. It also aims at reducing product losses
that may reach 50% of the production of some horticultural crops. In
addition to adding value to agricultural products, food processing is
conducive to market expansion of these commodities and consequently
provides incentives for higher agricultural and industrial production.
Further, the program aspires to provide information useful in defining
standards for fresh and processed Sudanese agricultural products and,
as well, targets self-reliance in processed food, thus increasing the
opportunities for reduced imports and increased exports.
